Extensively inscribed on the reverse of the stretcher by the artist with the title, date 1924 and artist’s name.

Walter Hall was predominantly a landscape and coastal painter, but also did some portraits.
He was interested in recording the coastal industries of the time and especially the ship building industries. He was born in Lancashire and for a time lived in Bury, Lancashire.
