Walter Goodin. (1907-1992).
Walter Goodin was born in Hull, East Yorkshire in 1907. He started his working life as a railway porter, but then in 1926 he was discovered by the renowned Beverly artist Fred Elwell, who paid for him to attend The Royal Academy Schools from 1929-1934. While there he won the Gold Medal. He taught in schools before turning professional and shared a studio in Beverly with Fred Elwell. After World War 11, He settled in Bridlington where he remained until his death in 1992. He painted shore scenes, landscapes, portraits and still life. He exhibited widely and is represented in the permanent collections of The Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, The Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh America, and at Sewerby Hall Museum and Art Gallery, Humberside.
