A very good strong example of Ramon Barnadas’s still lifes.
A precocious painter. At the age of ten he entered the School of Fine Arts of Olot and individually debuded, in 1929,at Galeries Laietanes, Barcelona. Only six years later he was appointed professor at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown. He exhibited his work in Spain , Mexico and Switzerland , and won first prize in the National Exhibition of Madrid and the International Palamos national award for landscape Foundation Estrada and the prize Ricardo Portabella . Barnadas, sketched with his style, was beyond the lessons of realism and impressionism , becoming part of the leading evolutionary moment of Catalonia. His work also includes the human, animal themes, still lifes, gypsy families and swimmers, reflected in the same style in his landscapes. Throughout his career Barnadas showed his work in several exhibitions, highlighting the Galeries Laietanes held in 1927 and 1928, and the Hall Barcino in 1933, 1924, 1935 and 1936, both in Barcelona. Also, he was awarded first prize in the watercolour IX Provincial Art Competition organized by the Girona Provincial Council for his work ” Hens” .
After his death his work continued showing to the public; 2006 the cultural center Fontana d’Or in Girona hosted a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the artist, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of his death, and that same year he dedicated another exhibition organized by the Caixa de Girona . Between December 2008 and January 2009 Les Voltes Gallery Olot presented a selection of his works on the centenary of his birth. It currently has two streets with his name, their home and another in Olot in Girona.
