Born in Leeds in 1894 to Polish immigrants, he studied at Leeds School of Art and at the Royal College of Art. He exhibited at The Royal Academy, The Royal Scottish Academy, Goupil Gallery, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester City Art Gallery, New English Art Club, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Hibernian Academy, Alpine Club Gallery and The Yorkshire Union of Artists.
His sponsor was Lord Howard de Walden. His paintings are to be found in some of the most famous private and public collections in the country, and invariably received the highest commendation by the principal critics.
