Teasdale was born near leeds on the 27th August 1870. His father ran the family cloth dyeing business.
Teasdale commenced his art studies at the Leeds School of Art where he came under the influence of Gilbert Foster. He enrolled at Herkomer’s Art School in Bushey in 1891 and completed his training at The Academie Julian in Paris. He established a studio in Leeds and supplemented his income teaching at both the Leeds and Harrogate Schools of Art. He was commissioned to paint a tiny landscape for Queen Mary’s dolls house at Windsor Castle. In Whitby, Staithes and Runswick Bay Teasdale found the light and variety of paintable subjects irresistable. He spent many summers painting in the region and exhibited at the Staithes Art Club and at The Yorkshire Union Of Artists. He also travelled widely around England and made a few visits to France, Holland and Belgium. He exhibited at The Royal Academy from 1894 and also at Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, The Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters. The major venue for his exhibited work was the Royal Cambrian Academy where he was elected an associate in 1914 and a full member in 1942. He married very late in life and died aged 91 in 1961.
