William Henderson started working life as a sign and house painter in and around Whitby in Yorkshire. He also lived in Grosmont and Goathland both near Whitby.
He exhibited at Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, Glasgow Institute, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and locally.
