Arthur Herbert Rigg was born and lived in Bradford. He was an art dealer working in Swan Parade, Bradford, but also painted landscapes and rural genre in oil.
He was, in 1883, joint Hon. Secretary of the Bradford Art Guild, formed in that year, and was a founder member of the Yorkshire Union of Artists (YUA). He exhibited his work with the YUA, and outside Yorkshire with the Royal Academy, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Hibernian Academy. His work can be found today with public collections at Bradford and at the Birmingham Art Gallery.
He was the brother of Ernest Higgins Rigg (1868-1947). A Staithes Group Artist.
Another brother, Alfred, born in Holbeck, Leeds also became a fine art dealer, and exhibited his work at the Royal Academy and elsewhere.
